Pop, you will be missed!

, originally uploaded by 1022 Sea Shell Ave.

This is Harry Bauer, Pop we call him.
He is my father in law.
He is a wonderful man, the closest thing to a father I have ever known.
A strong man, both in character and in faith.
A man who adores his oldest granddaughter.
A man that would serve dinner to the poorest of kids in his town.
A humble man, a beautiful man.

Pop died last Thursday.
Parkinson's took hold of him.
His body betrayed him.

Four days before he passed the family was gathered for Easter, so everyone did get to say goodbye.
I wish I had hugged him tighter.
I keep thinking I should have listened to the little voice in my head that day that said "go and get your camera and take his picture".
And I'm mad that our youngest will not remember him.
And angry because he said he would dance at Holly's wedding.
I feel lost and sad.
I feel cheated, again.

Pop's funeral will be this Thursday.

  6. Thanks everyone for your kind words, this week has been very painful. Pop is at rest now, the service was this morning, I just keep shaking my head in disbelief. Parkinson's was so awful to watch, from the man he once was to what that damn disease did to him. I always just thought he would dance at Holly's wedding.
